Essay Feedback - OUGD501

The feedback received for the essay was mainly positive. It was said that the essay was off to a good start but needed more academic sources to make it truly viable. It is difficult to find topics on comic media spoken about in this area but I have managed to find some sources that may help with the topics discussed.

The books above are highly rated in their fields and have been at the forefront of feminism for years.

Redesign female superheroes
Rebrand existing heroes
Create a brand new hero

Originally the idea was to redesign costumes for already existing female superheroes to make them less provocative and sexualised. After speaking with a tutor it was thought that this would be too heavily illustration based. The tutor suggested rebranding already existing heroes but it would not fit the theme of the essay so instead the two ideas could be incorporated by creating the identity of a brand new hero. If the hero was designed from scratch entirely new guidelines would need to be created this would also mean creating a costume for a character as it is part of their identity.
