CoP 2 Final Evaluation - OUGD501
This project has been an exciting one for sure, starting out I didn't have a plan for what I would like to look at within my essay. The idea arose that I could look at gender equality within comic books but it meant that I had to really to think about the idea and refine it to make sure the points were not misconstrued in any way. I was excited to write this essay as it was relevant to what I am passionate about and meant I could put a lot of my own knowledge to use as well as looking at new points I would be excited to know. The practical work meant I could put my skills to use in a way I may not have been able to previously incorporating illustrations with digital graphic design. I have never created a brand guideline for anything so this task proved to be difficult but it meant I could get a better understanding of the field. The target audience for both the essay and the practical outcomes is comic lovers aged 15-25 to give them a better understanding of how women can be used within comics and why it is not okay to see them as sexual objects. Distributing the practical outcome would be easy enough following the guidelines and the cost would vary depending on comic size, stock etc but it would be the cheapest 1 colour print. As for the proposal I do believe that this question could hold some potential but I think over summer more research will have to go in to influence my decisions and final outcome. Overall I believe CoP 3 has been a challenging year but has pushed me to develop both my writing skills and practical skills, I have learnt how to back up points much easier and relevant to what I previously would use and the same goes for influence within my design work. The final outcomes all fit with their intended audience and original brief the feedback received was positive and really helped solidify the final designs.
